You can use batteries for the outside use; when used on the inside a powered 9V adaptor plug or you can use the 9-volt battery whichever. It also is harmless to animal but its good to keep animals out of yard, flower beds, gardens, etc. This will drive away animals like mice, dogs, cats, birds, deer,foxes, skunks, etc. This passive infrared area 800 square feet, passive infrared angle 110 degrees, frequency range 15-26KHZ, audio frequency app. 7KHZ, output sound pressure 110dB, this is waterproof but you shouldn’t be immersed in water. This is pretty loud and it also has a metal stake where you can put in the ground. Awesome product & communications. I have mine in my laundry room because we live in a heavily wooded area so this will come in handy.
